“The iconic 1957 Chevy wasn’t big on new car sales but very impactful in popular culture. The final year of “shoebox” styling was aided by the fin design created to offset a new front end. The car remained popular as a used car bargain and was a favorite of hot rodders and street racers. The 283 engine helped with the performance side and the low weight was attractive. The car was also the first to offer tubeless tires.”
