1955-57 CHEVY BELAIR, MOTOR MOUNT BRACKET SET, SIDE MOUNT V-8 (BOLT ON)(MMB5557)

Part #MMB5557

READ THESE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS INSTALLATION!!!

  1. Clean the area of the frame where the motor mount will be installed. Place the motor mount against the frame with the front edge against the crossmember rivet. With the hardware provided, use the existing hole in the frame to bolt on the motor mount. The ‘55 will use the front hole and the ‘56-’57 will use the rear hole. It is not necessary to do so, but for added strength you may want to drill a hole so that the unused mounting hole can be used.
  2. With the mount installed, proceed to drill the hole through the top of the frame for the top mounting holes.
  3. Keep in mind that when installing these mounts that the brake lines may need to be repositioned.
  4. For high performance applications we recommend that the mounts be welded in.

I have a ’57 belair and looking to purchase the correct side engine mount kit for my 350 engine. Can you tell me how to identify if I have a seamed or seamless chassis. The main chassis is seamless but the cross member does not seem to have the ‘hole’ for the alignment of the first bolt that is referred to in the drawing or instructions on your website for this kit. Does this mean I have a seamed chassis? Your clarification would be most helpful.
    Thanks, Peter

When identifying a seamed or seamless frame, you must look at the top of the frame just below the firewall and rearward of the upper control arm. If it is smooth it is seamless, if it is welded it is seamed.
