The Story Behind the BlackOut Series
The BlackOut Series began almost by accident. In 2013, a batch of brake booster housings arrived at Performance Online powder-coated black instead of the usual zinc finish. Customers responded to the look, and what started as a finish change quickly became something larger.
POL paired the black booster with a black Wilwood master cylinder and matching proportioning valve, establishing the visual formula that would define the series. From there, BlackOut expanded beyond the firewall into complete brake systems.
Today, that original idea shows up in power brake boosters, hydraulic-assist systems, and front and rear disc brake conversions for a wide range of classic cars and trucks. Some applications retain factory-style spindle arrangements, others incorporate drop spindles or axle-specific rear brakes, and Hydropower systems replace vacuum assist with hydraulic pressure.
What connects these otherwise different brake upgrades is where the series started: taking components that normally look unrelated and giving the braking system a consistent identity throughout the build.
